Jivanu Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Research Scientist to join our dynamic R&D team in Bengaluru. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of microbiome-based biotechnology within an innovation-driven and rapidly growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute high-impact R&D projects focused on developing microbiome-based products, including novel biotherapeutic bacterial strains and defined microbial consortia.
• Perform strain engineering tasks such as vector cloning, gene knockout/knock-in, and construct development.
• Develop and optimize in vitro microbiological, biochemical, and biophysical assays to evaluate engineered bacterial strains.
• Work with and maintain anaerobic organisms; prior experience with anaerobic microbiology is strongly preferred.
• Drive innovation by genetically modifying difficult-to-engineer organisms, using novel strategies and iterative optimization.
• Manage and contribute to multiple parallel projects in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and effective troubleshooting.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including bioinformatics, in vivo efficacy, formulation, and product development.
• Provide scientific inputs in preparing grants, presentations, publications, and patent applications.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field from a premier Indian institution.
• Strong publication record demonstrating research excellence.
• Proven experience conducting translational or applied research in microbiome, biomedical sciences, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or manage scientific projects from ideation to execution.
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in genetic engineering, synthetic biology, or microbial consortia development.
• Education or professional experience at leading international institutions.
• Experience working with cross-cultural or global research teams.
• Familiarity with IP generation, regulatory pathways, and translational research pipelines.
