Job Description

Applications are invited for the position of Research Associate-I under a Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) – Department of Science & Technology (DST) sponsored project titled:
“Do cognitive demands affect information processing along the transverse and the longitudinal axes of area CA1 of the hippocampus?”

The project will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Sachin Deshmukh, Associate Professor, Department of Life Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, Gautam Buddha Nagar.

About the Role

The selected candidate will work on a multidisciplinary neuroscience project involving:

• Hardware design and fabrication
• Development of software for experimental control and quantitative data analysis
• Performing implantation surgeries
• Conducting neural recordings and behavioral experiments
• Histological procedures to localize electrodes

All new members receive hands-on training in these experimental and analytical techniques.

Duration

The appointment will initially be for one year, with the possibility of extension until the project’s completion, based on satisfactory performance.

Salary

• ₹58,000 per month + 9% HRA
  This compensation will be provided for the full duration of the contract.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification (Any One):

• PhD in Neuroscience, Life Sciences, Physics, Engineering, or other quantitative disciplines.
  Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis are also eligible.
  OR
• ME/MTech with 3 years of research/design/development experience and at least one research paper in a SCI-indexed journal.

Preferred Experience:

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Proficiency in programming (Python, C, C++, MATLAB, or related languages)
• Experience in neurophysiology, electrophysiology, or animal behavioural studies
