About the Programme

The Indian School of Mines was formally opened in December 1926 by Lord Irwin to address the country’s growing need for trained technical manpower. Over decades of expansion, the institution attained deemed-to-be university status and subsequently transformed into an IIT, operating today as a comprehensive technology education institute in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

Currently, the institution is executing an interdisciplinary project sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF-ECRG) under Sanction No. ANRF/ECRG/2025/002185/ENS. Consequently, the JRF Position IIT ISM Dhanbad vacancy provides an exceptional platform for engineers and applied mathematicians to explore physics-informed data-driven modeling and structural digital twins. Working on this three-year project allows fellows to build robust academic profiles in computational engineering alongside leading faculty experts.
