About the Programme

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship to strengthen international academic cooperation and promote research focused on Taiwan and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The fellowship supports scholars undertaking projects related to Taiwan’s foreign relations, cross-strait developments, regional affairs, and Sinology. Consequently, researchers gain direct access to Taiwan’s academic resources and scholarly networks.

Moreover, the fellowship encourages meaningful collaboration between international researchers and Taiwanese universities, think tanks, and research institutions. Through sustained academic engagement, fellows contribute to global understanding of Taiwan while expanding their own research expertise.

In addition, the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship has become one of Taiwan’s flagship international academic exchange initiatives. More than 1,500 scholars from 93 countries have participated in the programme. Furthermore, the fellowship supports the Chinese Taipei APEC Fellowship initiative, which reserves opportunities for researchers from developing APEC economies.
